After stopping my music activities in Japan at the end of 2015, at first it was hard to go back to making music as I had no stage name and I thought no one would listen to my new songs, but once I found some creativity I was able to create "Tokyo Street Lights", a song that highlights Tokyo as a place I love and as a source of inspiration. It was the perfect way to kick off my new music career under a brand new stage name, going for a modern EDM sound while including traditional Japanese instruments such as koto and shamisen, reminiscing of Japan and being such a homage to my previous music career as a J-pop singer for years.
Part of the inspiration for this song also came from the fact that I was planning a trip to Japan with friends during the summer of 2016, and I was acting as a tour guide, showing them what I loved the most from my previous trips. We all filmed lots of videos to create a fun documentary with our experiences from the trip, and since I was the one in charge of editing everything I thought making a theme song for those videos would be cool, so I wanted to create a song that had a Japanese feel to it.
Then there's the b-side track, called "Emergency", which doesn't have that much of a backstory. It's a pop song with a catchy bass line and sultry lyrics, and some people who listened to it after releasing this single said this song reminded them of Britney Spears quite a bit, so I took that as a nice compliment.
