My 5th single was already inspired by a city in the US, so I guess part of me wanted to go bigger this time and use a whole state as my main source of inspiration. "Nevada" is a pop song that features a nostalgic sound with electric guitars and different kinds of music boxes, and some of the vocal melodies were inspired by country music. The lyrics talk about not wasting time and do the things we want to do, because life seems long and endless at times, but it goes by really fast and it's easy to hold back from being who we truly are and doing what we really want to do.
Something that really inspired me to create this song was "Life is Strange 2", a video game that tells the story of 2 brothers in a road trip-like style. In the game they visit many places I mention in the lyrics, but the part of the game where they stay in Nevada was by far my favorite, so I thought it was the perfect title. I even showed this song to the team that developed the game and they told me they loved it, so that was amazing! I live 9.000 kilometers away from Nevada, therefore traveling there just to take pictures for the cover artwork wasn't a feasible option, but I found a quarry about 1-hour drive from my home that had this distinct red-ish hue that reminded me of Nevada a lot, and that's where this single's cover artwork was created.
The first b-side track is called "Monsters", and it's a really dark-sounding song that includes sad music box and glockenspiel melodies leading up to a powerful ending influenced by rock music, with strong drums and distorted vocals. The lyrics talk about the way you can't stop the voices in your head during an anxiety attack, comparing them to monsters that won't go away no matter how many times you keep saying you're feeling okay.
I included an updated version of my song "Santa Monica" as a second b-side on this single, featuring a much more mellow sound compared to the original track, and I also included an exclusive bonus track that can only be obtained on Bandcamp, which is also an updated version of my song "#slumberparty" that goes for a delicate indie pop sound with some new lyrics and different vocal melodies.
